Project Description

The Climate Datathon, a collaborative initiative by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), ForSet, AskGov, Climate Basics, and the Regional Environmental Center of the Caucasus (REC Caucasus), successfully concluded its second edition. Hosted digitally from October 19-21, the hackathon brought together statisticians, designers, developers, communication specialists, and researchers interested in data and climate change. The three-day competition witnessed the participation of 2-3 member teams and individuals who, alongside mentors, crafted impactful data visualizations addressing key themes such as reducing greenhouse gases, adapting to climate change, and exploring socio-political-economic aspects in the context of Georgia's vulnerability to climate change. With a substantial prize fund of 10,000 GEL, participants unleashed their creativity through interactive visualizations, infographics, games, quizzes, animated videos, and other innovative formats.
